  A summer  evening, the sun just was about to go over the hills that surrounded my home in 1973, it was a warm day and the sun was still on the west side of the house, I was sitting up against the house soaking in the sun, day dreaming on the day I had. My brother Donny was at our neighbors'  working on their farm, they lived above us about 5 miles up on the North Fork of Asotin creek road, we lived right on the south and north fork of Asotin Creek Road in the state of Washington. There I was on our side walk that lied next to our house as I was sitting on. My mother was cooking dinner and my sisters up stairs in our shared bedroom doing stuff. Suddenly my brother got home in a car of a man I was about to meet that same frame time, my brother got out of his car and came straight at me and said “that guy wants to meet you, soon as as possible” and I said “okay, yes!”, my brother went to clean up and took his motorcycle and ran down to his house witch was only about one mile down the road to our other neighbor another farm my brother worked for!

  While Donny was gone I went and cleaned up myself and changed into a pair of jeans and a cute top of the 70’s style. Donny came back and said he will be here soon after he gets cleaned up and will be here soon! We had dinner and shortly  after dinner he was driving up the road, his car was a 1969 mustang gray patched premiered color and in different gray colors. The sound of his muffler was a cool sound. I waited inside for him to come up to the door told Donny you answer the door as I pretended to be in the bathroom still getting ready, Donny said he is here come on out so I did and went out side through our front door opened the screen door and Donny introduced us. “ Sid, this is my sister Cindy”, “Cindy this is Sid the guy that wanted to meet you!”, well we said hi and went into his car and did some cleaning asking each other questions. Sid asked “ what is your favorite color?” so that short time meeting we really liked each other a lot asking and answering each others questions. That night he asked me on a date and I said” yea, okay!”. That following weekend on his day off, my brother Donny Sid and I went out together to go for a long drive from that day on we dated a lot together many times just Sid and I, we fell in love and it was just like a fairy tail story! Sid was the man I thought I would one day marry, well as time went by Sid and I came to the time for my Sophomore, Junior prom at Asotin High, Sid took my shopping for my prom dress he bought me a pretty flowery long gown, and went on a date the same day. Sid treated me like a princess always had a pillow next to him in his car he had bucket seats. Sid took me everywhere, our favorite was the car races we went to every weekend. Once he took me to his town of Orofino, Idaho went to some ones house I think it was one of his family to help move a refrigerator it was a long and winding highway to Orofino from Lewiston Idaho a beautiful lovely sunny day and beautiful land mountains trees, as with a river along the way. It was always a good feeling to be around Sid when we could be together!

  The day came for the prom night we got ready he came to pick me up and we were off to Asotin High Prom. That was when I did not know what the future held for us what would happen. After the prom we got a motel stayed all night together. ( my father was not around for my mother and father was divorced at that time, my father was living in a camper and truck up in Spokane Washington at my Grammy’s house then. So I never thought I would get into trouble we both did not know until….) The next day came and he took me home we both looked at each other with the feeling we maybe in trouble but tried to ignored it! As we got close to my house turned the corner and there that camper and truck was sitting right in front of my house and I gulped so did Sid and we were so nerves and that was the day it all came apart my whole life my true love my life was shattered my father stopped us from seeing each other, tore my heart in peaces did not know what to do. Ever since that day I want to travel back in time and fix that day before and not gone to the motel. But we did it and it was shattered.

Sid’s home in 1974, this was taken in 2005 up Asotin Creek Road about 15 miles from Asotin. Still standing his little cottage he lived in!

   The house I live in and still stands today this was taken in 2005 about 1 mile up the Asotin Creek road. Someone was living there but now it is empty in 2008. I went back there to see it all again and it felt very strange for many things around the house has changed some. Today I wonder where Sid is. I can not get him out of my memory I have had dreams of him, I still love him after all these years. That feeling is still in my heart and the aching of it hurts so much!
